The selection of Murshidah Sayyidah Asiyah (RA) by Allah Almighty to be the foster mother of Prophet Musa (AS) was not a coincidence. She was chosen for her virtuosity and the story above gives the reader a context of the events surrounding the upbringing of Prophet Musa (AS).
It is recorded in Sunan ibn Majah, Hadith 3280, that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
كَمَلَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ كَثِيرٌ وَلَمْ يَكْمُلْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ إِلاَّ مَرْيَمُ بِنْتُ عِمْرَانَ وَآسِيَةُ امْرَأَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ وَإِنَّ فَضْلَ عَائِشَةَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ كَفَضْلِ الثَّرِيدِ عَلَى سَائِرِ الطَّعَام
“Amongst men there are many who have attained great accomplishments (in society), and women (have less opportunities) to ever attain great accomplishment (in society), except (the unprecedented achievements of) (Murshidah Sayyidah) Maryam bint Imran (Maryam, mother of Prophet Isa (AS)), and (Murshidah Sayyidah) Asiyah (RA), the wife of Pharaoh. And indeed, the superiority of (Murshidah Sayyidah) Aisha (Siddeeqah) (RA) over other women is like the superiority of Thareed (a renowned meat dish) over all other foods.”
