Will Wise Compass help my child speak respectfully even when they disagree?

Disagreements are a part of life, but expressing them respectfully is a skill that many children (and adults) struggle to master. Wise Compass helps children learn how to voice their opinions and feelings without being rude or dismissive. As Muslim parents, we want our children to be confident in their thoughts but also humble in their approach. Our Islamic stories for kids focus on the concept of respectful dialogue, showing that it is possible to disagree while still maintaining the dignity of the other person and the pleasure of Allah Almighty.

Through values-based reading, we show characters who navigate differences of opinion with grace. Our faith-friendly story platform highlights the importance of using ‘I feel’ statements and listening to the other side of the story. In stories like The Boy Who Silenced a King, we see a powerful example of speaking truth with respect even in the face of authority. By mirroring the polite and reasoned way that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ engaged with others, children learn that their manners are most important when things are difficult. We want children to understand that their respect for someone shouldn’t change just because they have a different idea. Wise Compass provides the social-emotional learning tools for children to stay calm during a disagreement, which is a key part of anger management. By making respectful disagreement an attractive and rewarded choice, we help children build stronger and more mature relationships. They learn that by being respectful even when they disagree, they are following the path of the noble Quran and building a character that is defined by its wisdom and peace.
