How does Wise Compass encourage ‘say what helps’ rather than ‘say what hurts’?

The power of the tongue is a central theme in our faith, and helping children choose helpful words over hurtful ones is a core goal of Wise Compass. We teach that every word we speak is recorded and has the potential to either heal or harm. As Muslim parents, we want our children to use their speech to bring Barakah into their lives and the lives of others. Our Islamic stories for kids focus on the concept of Sidq and the importance of being a source of goodness. We want children to understand that their words should be a reflection of the noble Quran.

Our faith-friendly story platform uses relatable childhood dilemmas to show the difference between a helpful word and a hurtful one. In stories like Road Rage, children see how choosing a calm, constructive response can turn a negative situation around. Through values-based reading, we encourage children to ask themselves if what they are about to say is true, kind, and necessary. By following the example of holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who always spoke with purpose and mercy, children learn to be intentional with their speech. We want children to feel that their voice is a gift from Allah Almighty that should be used to encourage, comfort, and solve problems. Wise Compass provides the emotional vocabulary for children to express their feelings without being destructive. This builds their social-emotional learning and communication skills. By making helpful speech an attractive and rewarding choice, we help children develop a character that is defined by its gentleness and wisdom. They learn that their words can be a form of Sadaqah, bringing joy and peace to those around them and earning the pleasure of Allah Almighty.
