How Do I Explain That Allah Almighty Gives to Everyone, Not Just the Rich?

To assist children in comprehending that Allah Almighty grants provision  to all people, irrespective of their material wealth, the approach must centre on illustrating the multifaceted nature of Divine blessings. We must move their focus away from purely monetary measures of success. 

Discovering Diverse Blessings 

Use tangible examples from everyday life to show that blessings arrive in many forms, available to both the affluent and those with fewer material possessions. Explain that Allah Almighty’s Rizq is wonderfully diverse and specifically tailored to what each individual requires for a complete life. For example: 

• Some individuals may be immensely rich in robust health or physical ability, while others may lack physical strength but possess deep reserves of patience and contentment. 

• One person might have abundant worldly possessions, while another may be truly rich in profound wisdom, strong moral character, or deep, loving relationships. 

• Even the ability to access clean water, safe shelter, or strong faith are provisions that money cannot always buy or guarantee. 

Provision Rooted in Mercy and Wisdom 

It is vital to constantly remind children that the distribution of Allah Almighty’s favours is not arbitrary nor is it based on a human system of meritocracy. Rather, it is a direct reflection of His unending Mercy and perfect Wisdom. Allah Almighty knows precisely what each person needs to achieve success in this life and the Hereafter, and He dispenses provision accordingly. Therefore, when observing others who may appear materially poor, we should encourage them to look for the hidden gifts and blessings that Allah Almighty has granted them instead. 

The Value of Faith Over Fortune 

When discussing wealth disparity, emphasise that the greatest provision a person can receive is strong faith and closeness to Allah Almighty. Teach them that a person who is rich in faith but poor in worldly goods may actually be superior in the sight of Allah Almighty to a wealthy person lacking Iman. This frames the conversation around eternal value rather than temporary status, making the spiritual wealth far more desirable. 

Spiritual Insight 

The theological understanding underpinning the distribution of Rizq clarifies that earthly wealth is merely one small, temporary facet of Allah Almighty’s expansive provision, which encompasses physical security, spiritual guidance, and ultimate reward. 

The Conditionality of Earthly Favour 

Allah Almighty states in the noble Quran at Surah Al Anfal (8), Verse 53: 

‘That is because Allah Almighty would not change a favour which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is in themselves.’ 

This powerful verse underscores that Allah Almighty’s bestowal of blessings,material or otherwise, is intrinsically linked to the state of the heart and actions of the recipient. It clarifies that favours are not automatically permanent based on initial wealth; they require the continuation of righteous behaviour and gratitude. This demonstrates that provision is dynamic, guided by wisdom, and is not exclusively channelled towards those currently perceived as rich. For the believer, Rizq is a tool from Allah Almighty, which can be present in wealth or in the removal of wealth. 

The Prophetic Definition of True Riches 

holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺprovided a clear spiritual guideline, directing the community to redefine what constitutes true prosperity, distinguishing it from mere material accumulation. 

It is recorded in Sahih Muslim, Hadith number 1051, that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 

‘Richness does not lie in the abundance of worldly goods, but richness is the richness of the soul.’ 

This Hadith is the foundation for teaching children equitable distribution. It teaches that Allah Almighty often bestows the most valuable forms of provision,steadfastness in Deen, peace of heart, sincerity ,upon those who may have little in the Dunya (this world). Their perceived poverty is often merely a state of their worldly holdings, while their spiritual account is flourishing due to Allah Almighty’s favour. 

Ultimately, the varied distribution of Rizq serves a greater purpose known only to the All-Wise. Sometimes, wealth is a test of gratitude and responsibility for the rich; other times, poverty serves as a test of patience and reliance for the poor. By teaching children this, we equip them to view both states,abundance and scarcity,not as random events, but as structured elements within Allah Almighty’s comprehensive test for humanity. This perspective helps them appreciate the justice inherent in Allah Almighty’s distribution system.
