Parenting Perspective
Strengthening family bonds through shared faith practices deepens both familial love and internal unity. To effectively facilitate siblings expressing their collective admiration for the holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, you must intentionally create dedicated moments where each child can contribute their unique perspective. This means setting aside time where one sibling recounts a favourite Seerah story, another perhaps illustrates a scene or a trait, while a third might recite a nasheed (Islamic poetry/song) or write a personal reflection about him. When siblings learn to express their shared, profound admiration for him, they are practically learning this ultimate lesson of love: that devotion must translate into reflection—a reflection of that pure, selfless love for their siblings first. This is precisely the kind of deep, functional unity that beautifies a believing household and brings blessings upon its members.
Fostering Collaborative Expression
Structure activities to require collaboration over solitary effort. A wonderful activity is creating a ‘Prophet Tree’ displayed prominently on a wall, where each family member contributes a drawn or written ‘leaf’ detailing one of his admirable qualities—such as his truthfulness or patience. It is vital to celebrate every child’s contribution equally and genuinely to prevent any sense of comparison or competition from developing regarding who loves him ‘more’ or ‘better’.
Transforming Admiration into Conduct
Perhaps the most powerful method is integrating his memory into daily conflict resolution. When siblings encounter disagreements, gently remind them of the ultimate behavioural standard: ‘Let us pause and consider how the Prophet ﷺwould speak or act in this exact situation.’ This instantly transforms abstract admiration into tangible behaviour. By consistently keeping the Prophet ﷺas the emotional and ethical centre of your family time and interactions, his remembrance naturally binds their hearts together, thereby nurturing crucial qualities like cooperation, deep empathy, and a shared sense of honour in their faith.
Spiritual Insight
The directive to love the Prophet ﷺ is intrinsically linked to the command to maintain kinship ties and brotherhood among the believers, making the expression of that love a means to attain Divine mercy.
The Divine injunction regarding believers is clear: their primary relational state should be one of peace and reconciliation, built upon their shared adherence to the core tenets of Islam.
Allah Almighty states in the noble Quran at Surah Al Hujurat (49), Verse 10:
‘The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy…’
This verse clearly establishes that brotherhood is the default status for believers. Therefore, any practice that fosters reconciliation, such as sharing love for their Messenger ﷺ, directly aligns with inviting Divine mercy into the household environment.
The Prophet ﷺused an immediate, physical analogy to describe the depth of commitment believers owe to one another, demonstrating that love for him must manifest as active care for his community.
It is recorded in Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 66, that the holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
‘None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.’
