Does Wise Compass support perspective-taking through narration and visuals?

The ability to see the world through someone else’s eyes is the foundation of empathy and kindness. However, perspective-taking is a skill that many children find difficult to master, especially in the heat of a disagreement. Wise Compass supports this development by providing stories that show situations from multiple points of view. Through both our scholar-authored text and our expressive visuals, children get to experience what a character is thinking and feeling. This helps them realise that everyone has their own internal world and that our actions affect others in ways we might not initially see.

In Road Rage, children don’t just see the person who is angry; they also see the situation from the perspective of those around them. The audio narration might highlight the internal struggle for patience, while the art shows the impact of an angry word on a bystander. This dual approach helps children understand that their perspective is not the only one that matters. It is a practical way to teach social-emotional learning that translates directly to real-life situations, like schoolyard conflicts or sibling squabbles. By practicing perspective-taking in a story, children become more compassionate and thoughtful in their daily interactions, building stronger and more meaningful relationships.
