Do Wise Compass stories teach children to keep secrets and protect privacy?
Respecting privacy and keeping secrets is a key part of building trust and showing good character. Wise Compass helps children understand that when someone shares something in confidence, it is an Amanah that must be guarded. As Muslim parents, we want our children to be reliable and respectful of other people’s boundaries, as taught in the noble Quran. Our Islamic stories for kids illustrate that being a ‘trustworthy confidant’ is a noble trait that earns the respect of peers and the pleasure of Allah Almighty. We aim to show that some things are meant to stay private.
Through values-based reading, we show the importance of being someone that others can rely on. Our faith-friendly story platform highlights characters who face the temptation to share a juicy secret but choose to remain silent out of respect for their friend. In stories like The Boy Who Silenced a King, the value of truthful and careful speech is emphasized. By mirroring the character of holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who was known as Al-Amin (the Trustworthy), children are inspired to protect the privacy of others. We want children to feel that their word is their bond. Wise Compass provides the social-emotional learning tools for children to understand the concept of personal boundaries. By making the protection of secrets an attractive and rewarded choice, we help children develop integrity and loyalty. They learn that by being a person who can keep a secret, they are building a foundation for deep and lasting friendships. Through these narratives, children understand that their loyalty is a reflection of their Iman, leading to a life of sincerity and trust.
