What helps children see balance as part of Allah’s perfect design?

Parenting Perspective

Children often see balance as just a skill to practise, standing on one leg, walking a line, or catching a ball. Parents can broaden this view by teaching that balance is not random; it is part of Allah Almighty’s perfect design in the human body. From the way muscles work together to the brain’s role in coordination, balance reflects wisdom and care in creation. Helping children notice this design builds both gratitude and wonder.

Begin with simple observations. Ask your child to close their eyes while standing tall and notice how the body makes tiny adjustments to stay upright. Explain that Allah created the body to balance without us even thinking. Pointing out these invisible details encourages awe.

Ways to Teach Balance as Divine Design

  • Nature comparisons: show how trees stand tall with roots for balance, just as humans have feet and posture.
  • Everyday examples: highlight how riding a bike, climbing stairs, or playing requires balance Allah placed in the body.
  • Science with faith: explain in simple terms how the inner ear and muscles work together, then link it to Allah’s design.
  • Gratitude reflections: after balancing activities, say, ‘Alhamdulillah, Allah made our bodies steady and strong.’

Parents can reinforce the idea by modelling wonder themselves: ‘SubhanAllah, my body adjusts so quickly when I almost trip.’ When children hear adults connect daily balance to Allah’s design, they learn to see their own abilities as signs of His perfection.

Most importantly, avoid presenting balance achievements as self-made. Encourage effort but always tie it back to divine blessing: ‘You practised well, and Allah gave you this gift of balance.’ This protects humility and nurtures gratitude.

Spiritual Insight

Islam teaches that every detail of creation reflects the wisdom of Allah Almighty. Balance in the body is no exception; it is a sign of His design and mercy. Guiding children to see balance in this way connects physical play with spiritual awareness.

Allah Almighty states in the noble Quran at Surah Al Mulk (67), Verse 23:

‘Say, “It is He who produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.”’

This reminds us that every ability, including balance, comes from Allah Almighty, and gratitude is the right response.

It is recorded in Jami Tirmidhi, Hadith 2513, that the holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

‘Look at those who are lower than you and do not look at those who are above you, for it is more suitable that you do not belittle the favour of Allah upon you.’

This teaches us to value every blessing, including the often-overlooked gift of balance, instead of taking it for granted.

By linking balance to Allah’s perfect design, parents nurture awe and thankfulness in children. Each balancing game becomes more than practice, it becomes a reminder of divine wisdom. Over time, children learn to see their bodies not just as tools for play but as carefully crafted signs of Allah Almighty’s perfection, strengthening both their physical confidence and their Imaan.
