Illustrating Divine Resilience through Prophetic Narratives

A powerful method is sharing stories of the Prophets who endured trials yet experienced the restoration of wellness or the assurance of protection by Allah Almighty’s decree. For instance, the narrative of Prophet Ayyub offers a potent example. You can recount how, despite facing extreme physical affliction, he was never abandoned by Allah Almighty. His ultimate restoration of health serves as a clear testament that soundness of body is a specific form of Rizq, one that is granted based on patience and trust.

Another vital illustration involves Prophet Ibraheem (AS)  (Abraham). Narrate the event of his being cast into the fire, focusing not on the heat, but on the absolute protection Allah Almighty bestowed upon him. The miracle was not just surviving, but being kept completely safe in an environment intended for destruction. These accounts help children grasp that good health and safety are not guaranteed outcomes of fortune, but rather direct, miraculous manifestations of Allah Almighty’s sustained care, making them priceless forms of provision.

Highlighting Security as a Foundation for Life

Beyond individual miracles, emphasise that the general state of security we enjoy is also a unique Rizq. When discussing everyday safety, such as returning home securely after an outing or the stability of their environment, frame it as a divine shield. These foundational blessings are the prerequisites that allow one to pursue all other forms of provision, religious or otherwise. By connecting these experiences back to the Almighty, you embed the understanding that security is an active gift, not merely the absence of danger.

Spiritual Insight

In the context of faith, health and security are elevated from biological functions and environmental circumstances to fundamental spiritual currencies. They are the foundation upon which the believer can build piety and perform acts of worship, making them among the greatest of worldly provisions.

The Qur’an places emphasis on the power of the Creator over physical states, reminding believers that cure is entirely in His Hand, thereby establishing health itself as a paramount blessing.

Allah Almighty states in the noble Quran at Surah Ash-Shu’ara (26), Verse 80:

‘And when I am ill, it is He who cures me…’

This verse highlights the profound significance of good health, positioning it as a crucial and often overlooked element of Rizq. Health is an ongoing, daily blessing; it is the energy that allows a person to engage with life, work, and worship. The ability to move, think clearly, and feel well is perhaps one of the most valuable gifts Allah Almighty provides, as it enables the pursuit of all other good. Safety follows this pattern; it is the external assurance that shields the capacity to utilise one’s health for righteous ends.

The authenticated teachings of holy Prophet Muhammad  underscore the primary status of physical well-being and security within the hierarchy of blessings bestowed by Allah Almighty.

It is recorded in Riyadh Al Saliheen, Hadith 97, that holy Prophet Muhammad  said:

‘There are two blessings in which many people incur loss. (They are) health and free time (for doing good).’

This precise statement confirms that health and security are not secondary forms of Rizq; they are the prerequisites for appreciating and acting upon all subsequent divine gifts. A person who lacks health or lives in constant fear cannot fully dedicate themselves to learning, giving charity, or performing lengthy worship. Therefore, cultivating gratitude for these unseen but ever-present supports is a sign of deep spiritual understanding. A believer recognises that without the stability of body and environment, all other means of earning reward are severely diminished or entirely inaccessible.

To teach children that health and safety are essential forms of Rizq, share stories of the Prophets that highlight Allah Almighty’s care in these areas. The story of Prophet Ayyub shows how patience and trust in Allah Almighty bring restoration of health after extreme suffering, while Prophet Ibraeem’s (AS) protection in the fire illustrates divine safeguarding. Explain that everyday safety, like returning home securely or living in a stable environment, is also a special provision from Allah Almighty. holy Prophet Muhammad  reminded us that health and free time are blessings in which many incur loss, emphasizing their foundational role in enabling all other good. By understanding that physical well-being and security are gifts, children learn to value them as crucial forms of Rizq and develop gratitude for the unseen supports that allow them to live, worship, and grow.
