Parenting Perspective

Challenging the fear of impact

A child can handle this burden by learning that a quiz is only a measure of what they knew on one day. It is no predictor. Parents can use a script: ‘Our family is held together by love, not by the marks on your paper. No matter the result, we are happy together.’ This dialogue separates the academic task from the health of the household. It helps the child see that their parents are strong enough to handle any result. This is a powerful tool for confidence.

Building a realistic perspective

Encourage the child to look at the history of the family and see that mistakes are a part of life. Parents can share stories of their own small failures. Shifting the focus from the outcome to the effort helps the child regain balance. By celebrating the act of studying rather than the final grade, the child learns that their value lies in their character. This process takes time. Building this resilience ensures the child can face school with a clear mind.

Spiritual Insight

Beyond practical steps there is a deeper comfort found in faith. noble Quran and teachings remind us that our true security comes from the Creator who provides for every family and knows every heart. This connection brings security.

Allah Almighty states in noble Quran at Surah Al Baqarah (2), Verse 286:

Allah Almighty does not charge a soul except with that within its capacity…’

This reminds us that we are only responsible for the effort we put in and not for the outcomes outside our control. A child can find peace in knowing that Allah Almighty does not expect them to be perfect. This removes the weight of responsibility for the safety of the family.

It is recorded in Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2664, that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

Seek help from Allah Almighty and do not feel helpless.’

This teaches us that we should do our best and then rely on the support of the Creator. A child handles the fear of failure by trusting that Allah Almighty is the Best of Guardians for their family. Reliance on the mercy of the Divine provides comfort that no result can change.

A child who is anchored in their own identity can navigate school with a firm heart. By combining practical scripts with the knowledge that effort is valued they find relief from the pressure of perfection. Success is achieved through steady effort and trust in the guidance of Allah Almighty. Every small victory in facing a fear leads to a more peaceful life.
