Parenting Perspective
The habit of re-typing digital messages to ensure the energy is perfect is a sign of social anxiety. They often worry that a misplaced word can change how friends perceive them. This pressure creates an environment where the child is likely to feel exhausted. To handle this, a child can be taught that communication is about sharing a thought, not a flawless performance. Authenticity is more valuable than a polished image. When a child tries to be perfect, they lose the joy of connection.
Dialogue for Authentic Connection
Parents can use a specific dialogue to help their child break the cycle. You might say: ‘Your first thought is often the most genuine one, and that is what friends value most.’ Another helpful script is: ‘Communication does not have to be perfect to be meaningful.’ These words provide relief and encourage the child to trust their voice. By focusing on the message, the child can find more ease. It is important to model this behaviour by sending simple messages yourself. This shows that mistakes are normal and do not define character.
Spiritual Insight
Beyond strategies and conversations, there lies the deeper nourishment that faith offers. Noble Quran and teachings remind us that raising children is not only about discipline, but about nurturing hearts that remember Allah Almighty. Faith provides a stable anchor when the pressures of the world feel overwhelming.
Allah Almighty states in noble Quran at Surah Al Ahzaab (33), Verse 70:
‘O you who have believed, fear Allah Almighty and speak words of appropriate justice.’
This reminds us that the primary goal of our speech should be truth and sincerity. When a child focuses on speaking what is right and honest, they are following the guidance of Allah Almighty. This shift in focus away from social perfection toward spiritual integrity allows the heart to find peace. Sincerity is more beloved to the Creator than any manufactured social image.
It is recorded in Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 39, that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
‘Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way.’
This teaches us that we should avoid overburdening ourselves with unnecessary pressures. Just as we seek ease in our faith, we should seek ease in our daily interactions. For a child, this means letting go of the need for impossible perfection in their messages. Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encourages us to take the middle path, which provides a sense of balance and reduces the anxiety of social performance.
A child who values their authentic voice can navigate the digital world with a firm mind. By combining practical dialogue with the spiritual knowledge that Allah Almighty values sincerity, the child moves toward peace. Parents play a vital role by offering reassurance and a steady presence. It is important to remember that every small victory is a step toward maturity. With patience, the child will learn that they are safe and that their identity is protected by the wisdom of Allah Almighty. This journey of growth helps the child build a resilient heart. Success is achieved through steady effort and trust in the plan of Allah Almighty. He is the Best of Guardians always.
