Allah Almighty states in the noble Quran at Surah Al Hajj (22), Verse 32: 

‘And whoever honours the symbols of Allah, indeed, it is from the piety of hearts…’ 

This powerful ayah (verse) profoundly reveals that revering traditions directly connected to faith is not merely about formality; it is fundamentally about taqwa—the deep, heartfelt piety that manifests as a soul which genuinely recognises spiritual meaning. Explain to your child that traditions, whether expressed through specific food, family gatherings, or formal greetings, become dignified acts of worship when they are performed with conscious remembrance of Allah Almighty and sincere gratitude.  

The Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ instructs us to hold fast to the practices of goodness with both diligence and understanding. 

It is recorded in Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 4607, that the holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 

‘So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who will come after me. Adhere to them and hold fast to them. Beware of Bid’ah (in religion) because every Bid’ah is a misguidance.’ 

This exceptionally strong Hadith reminds us that protecting meaningful religious and cultural practices requires both profound understanding and unwavering steadfastness. Teach your child that traditions deeply rooted in goodness, sincere gratitude, and community connection faithfully reflect the enduring spirit of the Sunnah. Encourage them to approach customs with honest curiosity—seeing them not as mere relics of the past, but as essential lights actively guiding their future conduct. When faith and love are gently passed down hand in hand, the true essence of tradition successfully endures—not as a fragile memory, but as a living, breathing form of worship beautifully woven into the fabric of daily life.
