Ask directly, ‘When disagreements seriously arise between parents, staff members, or students, what is the established process for how they are resolved?’ A school that is genuinely guided by Islamic principles will consistently prioritise fairness, necessary privacy, and mutual understanding over assigning blame or causing public humiliation. 

Assess How Teachers Model Islamic Conduct 

The individual teachers are, in effect, the school’s most visible moral mirrors. Observe whether they consistently greet students with warmth, conscientiously avoid all harshness, and model essential virtues such as punctuality, personal integrity, and modesty. A teacher who regularly and consistently uses salaam (the Islamic greeting), begins their lessons with Bismillah (in the name of God), and speaks with genuine humility embodies the living principles of Islam far more powerfully than any academic textbook ever could. 

Notice carefully how teachers choose to handle moral slips. When a simple mistake is transformed into a positive opportunity for deep reflection rather than an opportunity for ridicule, it clearly demonstrates that the school’s underlying culture stems from Prophetic compassion, not from rigid control.

Allah Almighty states in noble Quran at Surah Al Nisa (4), Verse 135: 

‘O you who are believers, remain upright in upholding justice, bearing witness (to such actions) for the sake of Allah (Almighty); even if it goes against your own interest, or that of your parents, or your close relatives; whether one is rich or poor, then the (guidance given by) Allah (Almighty) takes precedence over both of them; so do not follow your whims, in case you deviate (from the equitable pathway)…‘

Encourage them to respect all rules that are just, and to respectfully question gently when something truly feels un Islamic always with the necessary adab and deep integrity.
