Will Wise Compass help reduce wastefulness in daily habits?

Wastefulness, or Israf, is something we want to discourage in our children from a young age. Wise Compass helps children realise that being wasteful is a sign of a lack of gratitude. As Muslim parents, we want to raise children who are mindful of their consumption and aware of the impact they have on the world. Our Islamic stories for kids frame the habit of ‘taking only what you need’ as a noble choice that is pleasing to Allah Almighty and beneficial for the entire community.

Through values-based reading, we present scenarios where characters learn the value of their belongings and the importance of not wasting food or energy. Our faith-friendly story platform uses relatable childhood situations, like leaving a tap running or taking too much on a plate, to show how small changes in habit make a big difference. In stories like Zarrat, An Amazing Atom, children learn to see the miraculous value in even the smallest parts of creation, which naturally discourages waste. By mirroring the simple and purposeful lifestyle of holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, children are encouraged to be content with less. We want children to feel that their mindfulness is a way to show love for Allah Almighty’s gifts. Wise Compass provides the emotional vocabulary for children to think before they consume. This builds their social-emotional learning and sense of responsibility. By making the avoidance of waste an attractive and rewarded trait, we help children develop a character defined by its balance and integrity. They learn that by being mindful, they are preserving Barakah and following the guidance of the noble Quran.
