When emotions run high, how does Wise Compass teach more objective thinking?
Every parent knows the challenge of trying to reason with a child who is in the middle of a big emotional moment. When feelings like anger or frustration take over, logical thinking often disappears. Wise Compass is designed to help children navigate these intense moments by providing them with the tools for more objective thinking. We use our stories to model how characters handle high-stakes emotions, showing that it is possible to pause and look at a situation clearly even when your heart is racing.
For example, in ‘Road Rage’, the theme of anger management is explored through the concept of Sabr. Children see that when a character lets their emotions lead, the outcome is often messy, but when they choose patience, they can see the facts more clearly. This social-emotional learning is vital for their development. Our scholar-authored narratives provide a safe space for children to reflect on these feelings without being in the middle of a conflict themselves. By using full-colour illustrations, we help them visualise the internal shift from emotional reacting to objective observing. This faith-friendly approach teaches them that our feelings are a part of us, but they do not have to control us. As they engage with values-based reading, they build a toolkit of mental habits that help them stay grounded during modern dilemmas. They learn to ask themselves what is actually happening versus what they are feeling. This strengthens their identity and gives them the confidence to handle social pressure with a calm and stable mind, making them more resilient in their daily lives.
