What can I do when my child reacts with anger if left out?

Parenting Perspective

Feeling left out can cause significant emotional distress, often showing up as anger, especially during childhood or early teenage years. As a parent, it is essential to acknowledge their feelings: I understand that it can be painful to feel excluded.

Next, work together to find positive solutions: What steps could improve your feeling of connection, like having a conversation, joining a different group, or doing meaningful activities by yourself?

Encourage them to act, which promotes their independence and demonstrates that they can influence their own experiences instead of just responding to situations. This helps build emotional strength and find solutions to problems.

This method helps in handling anger by directing those feelings into constructive actions, which enhances a person’s ability to deal with complicated social situations confidently.

Spiritual Insight

Allah Almighty reminds us in the Quran, Surah Al Nisa (4), Verse 114:

Nothing good comes from the vast majority of secret conversations, except the one who deals with charitable matters, or equitable dealings, or reconciliation between people…. ‘

This verse underscores the value of proactive engagement in relationships.

It is narrated in Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 66 that the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught:

None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother…

This principle supports empathy and generosity, even in moments of exclusion.

Guide your child to say: O Allah, help me act with kindness and courage. This Dua encourages self-reflection and transforms feelings of isolation into opportunities for character building and social grace.
