What are healthy snacks for school lunches?

Parenting Perspective

School lunch healthy snacks need to be nutritious, convenient to eat, and children friendly. Fresh fruit slices, raw vegetables and hummus, wholegrain crackers, cubes of cheese, nuts (where no allergy risk exists), and yoghurt are all good examples. They should contain little added sugar and no artificial colouring or preservatives. A mix of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats maintains energy levels and promotes concentration. Nighttime snack preparation and engaging children in food choices promote healthy eating habits. Water hydration is important in addition to meals. Steer clear of high-sugar beverages and packaged foods that lead to energy slump.
