How often should toddlers eat?

Parenting Perspective

Toddlers need to be fed three wholesome meals a day with 2-3 nutritious snacks in between. Their tummies are small, and they require frequent, tiny meals to keep them going and deliver nutrients. Constant grazing is a big no, as it kills appetite for nutritious meals. Between meals, provide water and a combination of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and healthy fats. A consistent eating routine works wonders in making toddlers feel secure and developing healthy eating habits for the future.

Spiritual Insight

Allah Almighty says in the noble Quran at Surah Al Muzzammil (73), Verse 20: ‘…He knows that there are some of you who shall be sick; and others will be travelling on the Earth pursuing the bounties from Allah (Almighty)… so recite from (the Quran) what is easy for you…’ It is recorded in Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 2065, that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: ‘If a woman gives in charity from her house meals without wasting (i.e. being extravagant), she will get the reward for her giving.’ These teachings encourage balance and ease, also reflected in feeding toddlers with routine and moderation.
