How can I make vegetables more appealing?

Parenting Perspective

Getting vegetables attractive takes creativity and persistence. Present them in colour and mixed textures; roasted, steamed, grilled, or raw with dips such as yoghurt or hummus. Pair vegetables with popular foods such as pasta, rice, or soups. Serving them nicely on the plate or engaging children in preparation stimulates interest. Employing mild seasonings, herbs, and natural flavours can deliver added flavour without overwhelming. Don’t force children to consume vegetables; rather, provide regularly and compliment attempts at trying a small portion. Repeated exposure leads to acceptance and liking over the long term.

Spiritual Insight

Allah Almighty says in the noble Quran at Surah Al An’aam (6), Verse 141: ‘…Eat of its harvest when it bears fruit, and donate the due (portion to the poor) on the day of its harvest…’ It is recorded in Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2592a, that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: ‘He who is deprived of tenderly feelings is in fact deprived of good.’ These sources encourage gentleness and consistency, both vital in nurturing healthy eating habits, including vegetables.
