How can I make school mornings less rushed and more emotionally calm?

Parenting Perspective

Get your school bags, lunch, and clothes ready the night before. If at all possible, get up a little earlier to make time for peaceful presence rather than to rush more. Avoid giving lectures in the morning and speak in gentle tones. The mood can be set with a quick Dua, a tender touch, or even just sharing a blessing. Your energy is absorbed by children, so if you remain calm, they will feel more stable as well.

Spiritual Insight

Mornings in Islam are a time of Barakah. Allah Almighty states in the noble Quran at Surah Al Muzzammil (73), Verse 6: ‘Indeed, rising (to worship) at night is more difficult, but more potent for focused recitation (of the remembrance of Allah Almighty).’ Starting the day with softness and remembrance aligns with Prophetic guidance. It is recorded in Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 2606, that the holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: ‘O Allah Almighty, bless my Ummah in their early mornings.’ Before the day starts, even a shared Bismillah or a few quiet words can provide emotional stability.
